The S4CE project brought together 23 partners from across Europe paving the way for expert international collaborations to monitor, measure, control and prevent environmental contamination related to geo-energy operations. During 40 months, the consortium has achieved exciting new research, ranging from helping the development of geo-energy field sites, contributing to developing new instruments and technologies, constructing new predictive models and software, and achieving fundamental discoveries. This was achieved by nurturing strong multidisciplinary collaborations between academic and industrial partners, through carefully-managed and prioritised tasks and through regular face-to-face connections using all available methods.  Our success has largely been driven by the dedication of many talented early career researchers, who shared and developed our vision, and who positively overcame a variety of logistic barriers during this project.

We are very grateful for all of the efforts by all individuals and partners from the different institutions, and we are immensely proud of all of the achievements.  This website provides an overview of the consortium, with details of results summarised, as presented in peer-reviewed published papers, information status reports, educational and explanatory videos, data repositories and much more.
Since  the project is complete as of February 28th, 2021, the website will not be updated further, although scientific papers still being published as a natural academic outcome of the work may be additionally accessed through the individual websites of individual participants.

Finally we hope that this website will now serve as a source of inspiration for future projects aimed at a multidisciplinary approach to environmental security and the sustainable development of natural resources.

It has been a pleasure and honour
